A Message from the TCC President – January 2010
Happy New Year and welcome to 2010.
I expect a busy year ahead for the Tuggeranong Community Council as we deal with issues that impact on our community and work to build a strong, positive, inclusive and effective voice for Tuggeranong residents. I also want to build a council that is run by its members and one that works hand-in-hand with other community organisations and groups. To this end we will begin 2010 with the launch of the new TCC committee structure at our first meeting for year on Thursday 4th February. The new structure is designed to give members a greater role in the running of the Council and in the decision making process. I believe this structure will go a long way in improving our links with government, other community organisations and Tuggeranong residents.

Have your say on Canberra’s energy future

The ACT Government has recently launched two major discussion papers in the energy sector – the proposal to expand the electricity Feed-In Tariff Scheme and the Draft Sustainable Energy Policy 2010-2020.
The Feed-In Tariff discussion paper deals with a possible expansion to include installations beyond the existing capacity limit of 30kW. The draft energy policy sets out a proposed framework for reducing the ACT’s reliance on fossil-fuel powered electricity while making Canberra’s energy supply more secure and sustainable.

Results of Tuggeranong Community Council Online Survey – Proposed Tralee Residential Development

Aircraft Landing at Canberra Airport as seen from Tralee (Source: ABC)
The Tuggeranong Community Council (TCC) conducted a survey of residents on the proposed Tralee residential development. Residents were invited to participate in the survey by visiting the TCC website and answering a series of questions about the proposed Tralee development.
The results of the survey show that a majority of residents believe it is a bad idea to allow homes to be built at Tralee. They believe residents at Tralee will be subjected toaircraft noise and a majority of respondents are concerned that as a result of complaints by Tralee residents flight paths will be relocated over Tuggeranong.
